Albert’s Wooden Surfboard

Albert joined us at the end of last year to make himself a 6’10 Jetty, and he popped in recently to collect his fresh new board…

Albert and his son joined us for a one day workshop to make a Paipo and Handplane, and in the meantime he was able to collect the 6’10 Jetty he made during one of our 5 day surfboard workshops last year.

The last time Albert saw his handiwork was the final day of the course, resting, freshly sanded on the trestles having just been stamped and signed.

The board was then taken up to Wadebridge where our finisher, Paul Fluin, added a thin sheet of fibreglass and some eco-epoxy resin, buffing the board to a high gloss and adding a central fin box.

You can watch Albert’s experience making the surfboard above and see the final results below, bringing the journey full circle.

We hope Albert enjoys his next surf trip, with the dream hollow wooden surfboard he made himself, waxed up and under his feet!
