Handplane Workshop

Description

Sometimes, nothing beats throwing a handplane into a rucksack and heading out for a walk and a swim to catch a few waves. We’re lucky enough to use handplanes we’ve made ourselves and now we want to share that exciting feeling with you.

Come and join us for a day in the workshop to make your own wooden handplane alongside some like-minded folk. We’ll create a blank for you, with a concave running through it, and you’ll then template and cut your outline, shape the rails and oil your plane ready for your first swim. We’ll be there each step of the way to offer all the advice and support you’ll need.

£180.00

If it is, you don’t need to select any of the options.
We’ll post you a gift certificate to give to the lucky person and then they can make their preferred choices by using the account that we’ll create for them.

This is so we know who’s name to put at the top of the gift certificate that we’ll post to you.

(Optional) – We’ll write this message onto the certificate that we’ll post to you :)

(Optional) – Only pick one if you know of the specific date they will be able to join us, if not, select choose later and they can pick a date that suits them.

or Commission Your Handplane

If you would like to join us as part of a group (up to 12 people) to make handplanes and or/bellyboards, please get in touch!

The day will kick off at 10am with a cup of tea or coffee and wrap up around 4-5pm depending on how much sanding you want to do.

We’ll stop at the cafe on-site for lunch to refuel, so please bring some money for this – a typical meal is £9.

We kick off the day with choosing your shape, drawing and cutting the outline before we then get into the shaping. Once the shape has been fine-tuned, we work our way through a few grades of sandpaper before stamping and signing them off.

We’ll demonstrate how to oil your handplane and send you away with a bottle of tung oil to finish it at home.

If you need somewhere to stay for the weekend, here are a few ideas for local campsites, B&Bs and self catered accommodation.

If you struggle to find anywhere, you can always drop us an email and we’ll help if we can.

If we haven’t quite managed to answer your question, it might be on our FAQ page, or pop it in an email and we’ll get back to you.
