Saturday Making

07 . 08 . 26

Last week we were joined in the workshop by Tim, Rob and Kevin…

Every month or so we run a Saturday making workshop, these sessions are all about our alternative wave-craft, Paipos, Bellyboards and Bodysurfing Handplanes – each of which was represented on Saturday.

The day begins with shapes being chosen, drawn and then cut out using our Japanese Pull Saws before the curves of each design are realised using our Saw Rasps.

With each tool comes a tutorial and demonstration by James, who is careful to allow folks to experience the techniques with some space, whilst ensuring the desired outcome is achieved with calm intervention and guidance.

After a pasty lunch everyone finished the rounding over of their rails, noses and tails before sanding to a finish.

A great way to spend a Saturday, thanks for joining us folks, now – to the beach!

All of our sustainable wooden wave-craft are made using wood from local, regenerative woodlands and are intended for a lifetime of waves. Custom made or make your own.
