Sophie Hellyer​

Sophie has a lot of strings to her bow: she is a former British champion surfer, writer, cold water swimmer, environmentalist, feminist and model. She’ll be taking to the stage at B>B>B to discuss how women are represented – and indeed misrepresented – in surfing, and what can be done to create a more healthy, diverse and inclusive culture for women in sport.

Dan Kieran​

Dan is a best selling author and travel writer (The Idle Traveller, I Fought The Law, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Three Men In A Float and The Surfboard). He is also the CEO and co-founder of the award-winning publishing platform Unbound. Dan will be talking about how visiting us for a week to make his own wooden surfboard, even though he had never surfed before and at a time in his life when he felt he’d reached his personal and professional limits, helped to reconnect him with his hands, unlock his mind, and push beyond his own preconceived and self imposed limitations.

Woodfired Canteen​

Every year our good friends Ben and Sam and their amazing team light their drumbeques outside our workshop doors at Boards, Barbeque and Beers and serve up some incredible (free) fare. We’re excited that they’ll be with us again this year, bringing with them their inimitable brand of delicious food and live fire cooking for us all to enjoy.

Jubel Beer​

Beer cut with peach or Elderflower, Jubel is an Alpine-style craft lager that bridges the gap between beer and cider, making it the perfect summer evening sip. Founded in Cornwall and now available in supermarkets across the country, we’re excited to be welcoming Jubel’s Landrover Defender bar to Boards, BBQ and Beers where they’ll be handing out free beers to get everyone excited for gluten free, vegan-friendly, naturally-infused beers with a difference.​

As in years past, the doors of the workshop will be thrown wide open and we’ll have a number of finished and “in-progress” wooden surfboards on display that we invite people to get up close and personal with. James and the Otter Surfboards team will be around and happy to answer any questions about our surfboards, the tools that we use or whatever else may intrigue you about what goes on here.​

The talks, tacos and beer at Boards, BBQ and Beers is provided totally free-of-charge – we simply ask that you register for a free ticket on the Eventbrite page by clicking this link, so that we have an idea of how many people will be joining us and can ensure that we have enough food and drink for you all.​
