February ‘Make Your Own’ Wooden Surfboard Course

25 . 02 . 24

Nick joined us for 5 days to make his very own wooden surfboard, here’s how he got on…

Nick made a 9’1 Wicket, our performance longboard shape, perfect for Nick’s dream of catching little peelers on a summer afternoon. Being a beginner surfer, it’s also a great board to learn on as it catches waves easily and holds trim excellently.

A teacher from Dorset, Nick wanted to make the most of half-term and took the opportunity to book a space with us, and even though he is yet to stand up surf, he mentioned that making the surfboard will provide the motivation to get out there and catch some waves.

Although Nick had some experience with making furniture out of wood, he admitted that he had never reached the refinement and fine craftsmanship that comes during days 4 and 5 of our workshop course, but under James’s guidance he ended the week with a beautifully handcrafted wooden surfboard!
