Helena dropped by last week to pick up the 7’4 Island Hopper she made with us last year…
Helena is from Germany where she works as a trainee carpenter, keen to move into boat building she joined our workshop to see what it would be like to make her own wooden surfboard and gain some transferable skills, to put to use when travelling Europe in her camper van.
Helena will have last seen her freshly sanded surfboard resting on our middle trestles, stamped and signed, ready for the next stage of it’s journey where it would be finished by our friend Paul at Fluin Glassing.
A few months later and after managing to find some time for a trip, Helena walked back through our big blue doors for the full circle moment, and stroked her handcrafted creation which now featured a high-gloss finish, fin box and leash loop.
We can’t wait to hear how Helena gets on with her Island Hopper, a perfectly named board to accompany her on her travels!

All of our sustainable, hollow wooden surfboards are made using wood from local, regenerative woodlands and are intended for a lifetime of waves. Custom made or make your own.
