We’re heading back up to London, but this time we’re loading our tool kit and a stack of timber into the back of the van ready to put on a one-day “Build-Your-Own” handplane workshop at the Patagonia store in Covent Garden. On Saturday November 2nd we’ll be at the Patagonia store on Langley Street (just off Long Acre) with some work stations set up and an open tool bag, ready to lead you through the process of crafting your own wooden handplane.
We’ll provide a laminated “blank” with a concave running through it and then show you how to template and cut out your handplane before shaping the rails and giving it it’s first coat of oil. The day will start at 10am and we’ll finish up sometime around 4, having nipped out at lunchtime to grab something to eat from one of the myriad of great eateries nearby. We hope that not only will you enjoy a day spent working with your hands and leave at 4pm covered in sawdust carrying something that you can take off on your own wave-based adventures, but that also you’ll have a great day sharing laughter and stories with like-minded people.
If we’ve piqued your interest and you’d like to book a space then please click through to the Handplane Workshop page on our website and select “02/11/13 at Patagonia,Covent Garden, London” from the drop-down date menu. The day will cost £90, including all materials and tuition, and booking is essential so that you can select the wood lay-up that you’d like and we can prepare it for you prior to jumping in the van. If you have any questions then please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. We look forward to seeing some of you there!
