Mitch and Jeff’s Make Your Own Wooden Surfboard Week!

19 . 09 . 23

A couple of weeks ago we were joined by Mitch and Jeff who had both joined us to come and make their own wooden surfboards, check out how they got on here!

Jeff joined us from Florida USA after seeing one of our boards in the background of a friends zoom call, 3 weeks later he was making one of his own, a 9’4 Seasaw, chosen to sit alongside other longboards in his quiver, a board suited to both traditional and progressive surfing.

Woodwork and surfing are huge passions for Jeff, who was stoked to be able to fit in a workshop week whilst over here in the UK on business. A well timed break from a busy work schedule, Jeff made the most of his visit to Porthtowan by cycling to and from the workshop each day and exploring the coast line, a great way to experience Cornwall!

Mitch joined us from London where he works in the film industry, a beginner surfer, he chose to make a 7’4 Island Hopper, a great board to get started on which offers great progression whilst having good paddle ability and wave catching power.

A keen woodworker, Mitch has a couple of courses under his belt, as well as various home DIY projects. He was stoked to hone some of his skills and use them to create something which he will later be able to use for another awesome hobby!

After such an enjoyable week, we can’t wait to see Mitch and Jeff again when their boards are ready to collect, all set for a lifetime of waves!
