Monday Morning Surf Club In January

The waves in Cornwall have been pumping, so it’s been a special month for Monday Morning Surf Club, click here and read on to share the stoke!

January got off to a stormy start as we avoided a blown out Porthtowan and headed to the slightly more sheltered Portreath. The waves were dumpy with a bit of size and power to them, helped along with an onshore wind. We had great fun bodysurfing into the closeouts and riding the smaller waves all the way to the beach, well worth getting in!

Another windy Monday morning saw us once again seek the shelter of Portreath which this time seemed more surfable, at least for Chris, who lucked into a couple of onshore lumps and made the best of the testing conditions.

Week 3 may have been the dreamiest morning at the beach in the history of MMSC, the moon was still illuminating the waves from behind as the sun rose over the beach, as chest high peelers made their way through the lineup, providing a super fun surf against the beautiful backdrop!

Although the sun and moon did not come out to meet us, the next week provided much of the same, with more chest high offshore delights, and a bonus bellyboard wave for the camera man!

With the waves at Porthtowan and Portreath being blown out, we decided to skip this week and instead share unused footage from the previous couple of weeks, we’ll be dining out on those memories for a while!

What an amazing start to the year, we hope by sharing our footage we can show appreciation for what we have on our doorstep, and give people who can’t get to the surf, the opportunity to check the waves each week, bring on next Monday!
