Snow rarely settles on this stretch of coast; in fact it very seldom falls. When it does, and there’s surf, it’s definitely a novelty that gives a visual reference point to how cold it is in the depths of winter. On any other day in early February it’ll be just as cold but you can’t really tell that from a photo. You need a little white on the ground, and smattering of flakes fluttering through the air. This week we had snow; air temperature was 2 degrees Celcius, water hovering around 10. And there were some small, shapely waves. We went surfing.
