Sustainable Wooden Surfboard Shapes: The 7’2 Roller Coaster

Here’s everything you need to know about the Coaster’s big brother…

7’2″ x 22″ x 3″ – 52.3l

Taking the template and rocker line straight from our popular Coaster model and squeezing an extra 5 litres of volume into it, makes this board a great one-board-quiver for anyone looking for some extra floatation and paddle power.

Our 7’2 Coaster is almost always in the top two or three boards when people are trying to decide which board they’d like to make with us. The one concern that has cropped up a few times is whether the Coaster has the necessary paddle power for the bigger surfer.

So we decided to take the template, rocker line and bottom contours directly from our Coaster and find a way to add a little extra volume throughout. More paddle speed and slightly thicker rails mean that if you’re a bigger surfer, or maybe even a beginner wanting some extra flotation, this board would be ideal.

Having surfed the Coaster for so long ourselves, when we look at the Roller Coaster and tuck it under our arms, it feels like the same board, but made for more serious waves.

As with all of our shapes, folks have the opportunity to join us in the workshop to make their own wooden surfboards over 5 days, here are some Roller Coaster stories:
