As One talks is a wonderful, insightful and inspiring monthly series here in Cornwall, and James was honoured to be invited to share his story back in March and talk about how he got to where he is today and the special people who have helped him along the way.
Cold water surf company Finisterre invited James to speak at their flagship London store, and to run some "Make Your Own" bodysurfing handplane workshops in store the following day. The event sold out on two consecutive nights.
In October 2015 11x European longboard champion Ben Skinner paddled into some huge waves at the Cribbar on a wooden surfboard commissioned by Surfers Against Sewage to demonstrate the performance possibilities of sustainable materials.
James was invited to speak at The Global Wave Conference, to highlight the low environmental impact of handmade wooden surfboards and how sharing the process of making them in workshop courses hugely increases their longevity.
James was invited to talk about his experience of sharing the joy of making at the 2014 TEDx event in Brighton, titled Many Hands, which explored ideas around connectivity, convergence and community.
