Hugo’s Hollow Wooden Surfboard

A few weeks ago, Hugo dropped in to pick up the 9’1 Wicket he made with us…

It’s always a special day when a surfboard goes to its forever home, and even more special when the surfboard is one that has been made by your own hands!

Hugo has had that very experience, having joined us for 5 days last year to make a 9’1 Wicket.

Following the making of the surfboard – assembling the frame, rail strips, nose and tail blocks, getting the top skin on and shaping it to the desired dimensions – we took Hugo’s handiwork up to our finisher, Paul who uses one sheet of fibreglass along with some eco-epoxy resin to complete the process.

Hugo had opted for a high gloss finish, which you can see from the pictures, gives the Wicket a beautiful sheen.

We hope Hugo doesn’t feel too bad covering that deck with wax, and heads out for some special waves!

If you would like to join us for 5 days of making, away from screens and the stresses of work, just like Hugo – click here!

All of our sustainable, hollow wooden surfboards are made using wood from local, regenerative woodlands and are intended for a lifetime of waves. Custom made or make your own.
