Peter and Joe both joined us to make their own surfboards at the end of last year, but each had in mind some customisations to further personalise their handiwork.
Joe made a 9’8 Cali Log featuring a double sandwich wood layup with matching glass on fin and high-gloss finish.
Following the workshop experience, he asked if the Otter logo and the Cornish flag could be in-layed on the underside, to remember his visit.
Peter made a 7’10 Clipper featuring a triple pale wood layup, matching glass on fin and matte finish.
He asked for the Otter logo and a laser cut pineapple to be added, in homage to his family history.
Below you can see the process of routing out a space for the laser cut additions, and how James pieced them together.
Following a good sand, the boards were then sent up to our finisher, Paul Fluin, who added the fins, fibreglass and sealed the boards with an eco-epoxy, bringing the boards to a spectacular sheen.
All of our sustainable, hollow wooden surfboards are made using wood from local, regenerative woodlands and are intended for a lifetime of waves. Custom made or make your own.
