When Ornella first joined us back in October she had recently begun a sabbatical and was keen to explore her love of woodwork and surfing. Ornella made a 6’10 Jetty, an egg shaped surfboard which catches waves easily and lends itself to a high level of manoeuvrability, an ideal board for progression in surfing, which is exactly why she chose the shape.
Originally only planning to travel for a few months following the workshop, she has spent much of the past year in some amazing countries all with the aim of searching for waves and improving her surfing…
Ornella’s travels have taken her to Bali, Lombok, Hawaii, Portugal, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Sri Lanka!
We were so stoked to hear about it all when Ornella dropped by this week to pick up her freshly finished wooden surfboard. Mentioning that she had succeeded in her aim to progress onto surfing smaller surfboards, and so was excited to take the Jetty for it’s first dip in the sea!
Ornella is now off to Portugal to surf some end of summer waves, we wish her the best in her future travels and can’t wait to hear how she gets on with her fresh new wooden surfboard!
