Paipo Shaping!

This Paipo is for one lucky customer in California, it features a classic double sandwich wood lay-up running up the centre of the board and will be finished with several coats of tung oil.

Made in the same way as our Bellyboards, you can see in some of the close up photos that the board is made up of 3 layers of cedar, which are glued together before being placed over a mould in a bag press – this gives the nose a nice concave.

James has then cut out the shape (based on a traditional bodyboard style template), and in these photos is planing the rails, nose and tail using a spokeshave and handplane to create a 60% bottom and 40% top chine.

Then it will be hand sanding to a finish!
