“But your door’s always open anyway” I hear you say, and you’re very much correct. We’re always happy to down tools to talk waves and wooden surfboards with anybody who takes the time to visit us at the workshop, however the Open Studios events are a really good opportunity to make a little more of the trip.
Krowji, where our workshop is located, is Cornwall’s largest creative community housed in the old Redruth Grammar School and thirty-six of its artists and designer-makers will be opening their doors and displaying their work as part of the Open Studios event.
There’ll even be complimentary mince pies and mulled wine in the Melting Pot café to get you feeling all Christmassy. Why wouldn’t you come along?!!
The Otter Surfboards workshop, in the Science Block, will be open, and chances are that we’ll be whittling away at something; we’re not very good at just sitting around. There’ll be a couple of surfboards on the trestles in various stages of construction so you can come and peer at the insides of them and see just how we do what we do. We’ll also have a load of our hoodies, t-shirts and handplanes out in case you wish to use the opportunity to pick up some Christmas presents, and you can have a look at the surfboards in our rack and the surf photography lining our walls. Stop on by, we’d love to see you!

POST UPDATE: We moved our workshop in February 2014 to our current address of Otter Surfboards, Mount Pleasant Eco Park, Porthtowan, Cornwall, TR48HL – find us here.
