Otter Surfboards AGM 2014

05 . 10 . 14

Last weekend we held our 2014 “AGM”, which is less of an annual general meeting and more of an opportunity for us to invite friends old and new to come and join us for an evening of good food and sharing stories.  Each year, as we host more and more “Build-Your-Own” workshop weeks, the invite list grows longer and we are able to welcome more and more people to join us in the barn at Dunkirk Farm, the place where it all began for us.  This year we were made-up that so many former workshoppers were able to make their way to Cornwall for the weekend to share a few waves during daylight hours before sharing a few beers (courtesy of our friends at Rebel Brewing Co.) and some amazing home-reared roast pork provided by Jez and Ange of Dunkirk Farm once the sun had set.  There are only ever up to three people building surfboards on a workshop week, so it’s lovely seeing everybody getting together at the AGM to “compare notes” and leaving with a few new friends.

Below are a few of our favourite photos from the weekend.  We hope to see you there next year for more of the same.

Pete heading out to an inviting looking peak with his 6’4″ Woodburner.

James running down the line on a nice looking left.

Chris hooking back into the pocket on a 5’10” Fetch.

Tim had some really long rides on his 9’4″ Seasaw.

It was great seeing so many wooden surfboards on the beach and in the water!

Dunkirk Farm, transformed for one night of the year from a working farm to a small wooden surfboard festival.

We had a cask of great beer from the guys down the road at Rebel Brewing Co.  Watch their video here.

We made the most of the unseasonably warm late September evening.

This year we projected a slideshow of wooden surfboard images and invited everyone to bring along their surfboards for a “show & shine”.

Inspecting each others achievements.

Steve, Ian and Tony keeping close to the action…and the cask.

It was great to see so many people’s surfboards on display, many still covered with wax and dripping wet.

Chris, fresh home from a last minute surf trip to the west coast of Ireland.

At the end of the night we cleaned up and packed everything away, returning the barn to it’s regular inhabitants of pigs, chickens and the farm cat.

Thanks so much to Jez and Ange for being such wonderful hosts, to Rebel Brewing Co. for the beer, to everybody who helped to set-up, pack away and prepare food and, most of all, to everybody who travelled from near and far to celebrate another great year of making wooden surfboards with us.  We look forward to seeing you again soon.  Same time next year?
